Found inshore and near shore around natural
and artificial reefs in 15 to 20' of water. They often travel in large schools and are known
to drift on their sides mimic floating debris. Most catches are less than 2lbs
occasionally up to 10lbs.
World record is 14lbs.
General Information
Difficult to hook but a strong fighter. Feed
mainly on crustaceans and small invertebrates but their favored meal is jellyfish.
Tackle & Bait
Spinning and plug casting are the
favored
methods. Also sometimes taken on shrimp and cut fish strips.
